The Clay Field is a flat rectangular wooden box that holds 10 - 15 kg of clay. A bowl of water is supplied. This simple setting offers a symbolic "world" for the hands to explore. There will be no art work to be taken home. The hands enter the Clay Field and move in it; in their ability or inability to "handle" the material they tell the client's life story. The hands then can be encouraged to find ways to deal with situations and events, to complete actions that previously could not be coped with. Work at the Clay Field® is a sensorimotor art therapy approach that is widely used in European schools, particularly in the work with disabled or disadvantaged children, in women's shelters, and to facilitate trauma healing. This unique art therapy approach is recognized in Europe as a discipline in its own right.

Prof. Heinz Deuser has developed the amazing technique of Work at the Clay Field® over the last 35 years. For 15 years he was the course coordinator for the university art therapy program in Nurtingen, Germany. He is founder and director of the Institut fur Gestaltbildung, international lecturer and author of several publications on Clay Field Therapy. He has visited Australia twice and held a weekend training workshop for art therapists at Claerwen Retreat. The DVD is the full account of the workshop. It comprises a set of 7 DVDs, altogether 18 hours of training.

Guided Drawing is a unique art therapy technique; a creative way to tell our Greater Story. Archetypes are evoked through the mindful repetition of simple abstract shapes, often with both hands and closed eyes. In trusting one's inner guidance the unconscious can reveal painful memories, destructive powers, but also unexpected wisdom and abundant healing.

Decades of development have created this invaluable tool for therapists, students and artists that combines Jungian Analytical Psychology, transpersonal approaches, bodywork and art.
